Steven C. Sommerfeld DDS

Dr. Sommerfeld is a 1994 graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, where he earned both his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree and his Bachelor of Science in Dentistry. In addition, Dr. Sommerfeld is a proud third-generation dentist, following in the footsteps of both grandfathers, his father, and several uncles. He joined his father, Dr. Louis Sommerfeld, in private practice in 1994, where they had the wonderful opportunity to work together for several years.

In 1995, Dr. Sommerfeld began practicing in Highland Park, closer to his home, and later purchased a well-established dental office that has been serving the community since the 1960s. He is proud to carry on its longstanding tradition of delivering exceptional, patient-centered care. With extensive experience in all aspects of dentistry and a compassionate approach, Dr. Sommerfeld—alongside his dedicated team—has earned the trust of four generations of families who continue to rely on him for their dental care.

Dr. Sommerfeld is excited to be practicing with his associate, Dr. Halec Serlin. They enjoy working together, and Dr. Serlin shares the same compassionate approach to patient care as Dr. Sommerfeld. Both look forward to many years of practicing together. Outside the office, Dr. Sommerfeld enjoys staying active and finds inspiration in the mountains and in live music. A passionate musician, he continues to play weekly—maintaining a 25-year tradition of performing with the same group of friends. A lifelong resident of the area, Dr. Sommerfeld lives nearby with his wife and two Portuguese Water Dogs. His son lives in Colorado, where he is a touring musician and paralegal. His daughter is enrolled in a physician assistant graduate program and will be completing her training in Colorado.
